PUBG Mobile Esports: Team i8 to represent Pakistan in PMWI East 2021 as Stalwart Esports forfeits their Invitation. According to recent announcements, Stalwart Esports’ PUBG Mobile current Esports roster which was invited to the PUBG Mobile World Invitational, has forfeited their invitational slot of PMWI 2021 East and offered the slot to Team I8. On the other hand, Team i8 has posted that Stalwart Esports has no role in Team i8 being seeded to the PMWI event as i8 claims that they have got the invitation directly from Tencent.

PUBG Mobile World Invitational 2021 is a charity PUBG Mobile event organized by the PUBG Corporation in collaboration with Gamers Without Borders. The tournament features 32 invited teams from all around the world who will lock horns to claim the lion’s share of the huge prize pool of $3,160,000 USD. PMWI: East features teams from SEA, South Asia, Korea, Japan, TW/HK/MO, and Wildcard where Stalwart Esports got an invitation for their impressive performance in PMPL South Asia Championship.

Now, the PMPL SA Championship was played by the current Team i8 Roster who were playing under the banner of Stalwart Esports at that time. Later, that roster was released by Stalwart Esports due to an internal issue as per reports. Now, the Pakistani PUBG Mobile community was unhappy with the decision that Stalwart Esports is sending an entirely different roster to represent Pakistan in the PMWI while the deserving roster of Team i8 didn’t get any seeding into the mega event. However, Team i8 has now confirmed that Tencent has recognized their claim & they will be the one to represent Pakistan in the PMWI 2021 East.

“We firmly believe that the PMWI slot was rightfully deserved by the team is, that’s why we have decided to forfeit our participation in the event and offer our invite to Team i8 so that the rightfully deserving team is sent to represent Pakistan. While we sincerely apologize for the denial of the PMWI slot to team i8 at first, we would like to clarify that this all happened due to a huge miscommunication. While we do not shy away from accepting our mistakes, we hope the Pakistani audience would accept our apologies.”

Zeyan Shafiq, Founder of Stalwart Esports posted,

“I’d like to start with a sincere apology for all my unprofessional social media behavior and controversial tweet regarding the audience in Pakistan. While I never meant those words, I feel bad about it, and I would like to apologize for it. I accept that it was my mistake and I shouldn’t have done anything like that.”
